Installing A Concrete Sink

For drilling into concrete use a hammer drill and a concrete bit. Then add a thorough coat of a release agent spray to help prevent the concrete from sticking to the edge liner and sink knockouts. Caution because of the weight of the sinks themselves and the added weight of dishes and water undermount sinks are best suited for more solid weight bearing countertop surfaces like marble concrete quartz or granite. Be sure not to over tighten. Test the boards by placing them along the first board. The pedestal sink must be mounted to the floor for stability. For drilling into tile use a tile bit to drill the holes.

If you re installing a sink cut 4 more boards to fit along the outline you drew. If they are too short they won t be able to hold all of the concrete you need for the installation. Installing an undermount sink in a concrete countertop is similar to installing it into other countertops with a few small but important differences. For best results measure your existing sink cutout to ensure the new sink will fit.

Old faucets might need the old block support which simply clips into the sink holes. The process can be long but patience will yield some satisfying results. Most are ada compliant. Use silicone or siliconized acrylic kitchen and bath caulk.

Clean the entire form with denatured alcohol to get rid of any excess silicone and debris. Install the sink where it needs to go and ensure it s level from side to side and front to back. The technique for doing this will vary depending on the type of floor. Apply a generous bead of caulk around the top of the sink s flange.

Make sure the strips are as tall as the finished countertop will be. Attach the old faucet or new faucet to the sink top.
